Day 97a Linlithgow - Falkirk Wheel

Another day walking a canal towpath and it was hot!
The highlights were the Falkirk tunnel and then the Falkirk Wheel.
The tunnel is over 600m long and built only in order that the landowner didn't see the canal!
The wheel is spectacular taking boats up / down from one canal to another and replaced the many original locks which were filled inn 50 years ago. It takes only a very small amount of power to operate as it uses the weight of one arm to lift the other.

  1. We had Hailstones the size of golf balls through the night. Hope you managed to evade the storms? Derek R
